Idhaya Engineering College for Women (IECW) was established in 2001. It was approved by AICTE, New Delhi and Affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. It is a Christian Minority Institution. Two decades of excellence in engineering education enhances IECW’s reputation far and wide. Since its inception, IECW has been laying emphasis on engineering education for women. It is a beacon for aspiring young women guiding them to achieve a significant engineering degree under the auspicious guidance and committed leadership of The Franciscan Sisters of Immaculate Heart of Mary Congregation (FIHM), Puducherry .
IECW is an ISO 9001:2015 certified Institution. It has 2(F) status of UGC act 1956 for getting central funding assistance. It has Institutional membership with INDIAN SOCIETY FOR TECHNICAL EDUCATION (ISTE) and COMPUTER SOCIETY OF INDIA (CSI). The undergraduate programmes of CSE and ECE are permanently affiliated with Anna University, Chennai. Good numbers of MoUs has been signed with many MNCs and International Universities for training and placement activities and research programs.

The IECW Sports team is competent, winning trophies in Zonal level Ball Badminton, Shuttle Badminton and Athletics consecutively. The establishment of Idhaya Technological Entrepreneur Incubation Centre (ITETC) is a mile stone of IECW. IECW has strong alumni network (OSAI – Old Students Association of Idhaya) as a platform for past students to turn in to IECW and share their experiences.
